I can do the transcription either literally (considering scientific transcription rules) or adjusted to modern rules, i.e. more freely and thus easier to understand – as desired.
You will receive the finished product in whatever format you desire – as e-mail, fax, printed or on CD-ROM.
After contacting me, please send me your document (or some exemplary pages) as a readable copy per fax, e-mail or post. Every hint concerning origin and contents of the document can be of help for the transcription.
Original documents are valuable and often irreplaceable.Please do not send me originals as I can’t accept liability for their safety. For the sake of security as a general rule I work on originals only in archives unless there are exceptional circumstances involved. These need to be discussed with me at the outset!
Prices
Prices for translation and transcription as well as archival research depend on a number of factors (e.g. the size of the task involved, travelling expenses, photocopies etc.). Different pricing structures best suit different client’s needs.
Concerning transcriptions these points are of importance:
- legibility, condition and level of difficulty of the handwriting
- quantity (number of pages, words per page)
- additional requests like summaries, explanations of old German words or technical terms, translations
An exact offer will only be made after I’ve seen some examples of the handwriting. Please contact me so we can decide on the best pricing arrangement for you - either on an hourly basis, by the number of pages or a total price.
